RM300 Petrol - Free

The price hike of the petrol in Malaysia in early June 2008. It was and still a big impact on every1 in M'sia. Our daily lifestyles change accordingly.....this especially to the lower-end to medium class of the society. Even my husband and I will either reduce our frequency of eating out on weekends.... or we choose cheaper restaurants just to fill up our empty tummy.

However, lady luck smiles on me (hope i'm using the rite phrase :p)

Does any1 out there still remember this advertisement ? It's from the Shell Malaysia!!! Still remember the contest form that were given to you when you pump your petrol more than RM30.00??? The contest was held for almost 3 months .... there're 11 weeks of winners!!!

Guess what??? As usual, I always keep all the forms in my handbag till my husband complained about the forms would soon become draft papers. Then that early morning before we went to work, I sent all the 10 pcs of forms to the petrol station outside our home (8 pcs with my husband name, and the balance of 2 pcs with my name on them).

After about two weeks, there's a lady called me in the noon.

The lady : May I speak to Ms Wong Kah Yun?

Me : Yes, speaking.

The lady : I'm calling from Shell Malaysia. We are glad to inform that you have won a RM300 petrol card. May I have your address?

Me : (being shocked and brain block for a few seconds) oh yes.... my address is .........xxxx

The lady : Thank you, mdm. We'll send the card to you by courier and you'll receive it within two months.

Me : Oh... ok. Thanks.

Well..... I thought that it was a spam called. As few months back then, there was such called from somebody as well. I told my husband about the surprise fake call. Then my husband asked, "Did she ask for your bank account number? Did she request you to bank-in any amount to her?" My answer : "NO" for both questions. "Then, that may be true oh!!!!. Better go to petrol station to check."....my husband said.

DISAPPOINTED!!! We went to check and my name was not in the list. So, we assume that the call was fake. However, few days later....there's a long list on The Star newspaper announcing..... "Week 8 Winners ......" from Shell Malaysia. Immediately I zoomed to the name list that start with "W". HOORAYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!! My name was there!!! Yes!!! I won RM 300 petrol card!!!!! I seldom won a prize in lucky draw and this time I am indeed very lucky as the contest was for country-wide!!!! and I'm 1 of the winners!!!!

So, Thanks to Shell Malaysia for helping us. At least we spent RM300 lesser with the petrol card from them!!!

The Enjoyment of Shopping....without paying $$$

Early this year.... during the company's annual dinner ....my husband won the 3rd price in the lucky draw - a 21" tv that worth RM530. It was truly a good beginning of good luck in the year of "Rat". The voucher was valid till 31 Dec 2008. We did not redeem it till after 6 months.

Sound weird huh...?? Well, it was because of the negotiation between my husband and my mother in-law for getting a new tv. Both my husband and I like the Sharp Aquos so much..... but the queen is so loyal to SONY and not willing to change the old tv (which once a while the colour of the screen will change)!!!! So, after much discussion, my husband and I decided to change our plan....to redeem other eletrical goods except tv.

We went to the shop and started choosing the things that we would like to have other than a SHARP AQUOS tv!!!!!! At 1st i felt quite unhappy about it, but then wat to do???? It's better to get something that we love. So, we went round the shop for 2 rounds!!!! Searching and calculating the total amount of the eletrical appliances that we like.

It was a thrilling feel and extraordinary feeling when I was selecting the things that I like. That moment........... I started to understand the feeling of those extreme rich ppl (those always shown in TVB dramas) that shop without worrying the $$$$ signs!!!!

SO, after about an hour in the shop, we have selected four items :
1. 1 unit Philips hair straightener (that hav a nice pouch for easy travelling)(which i've been hoping to have one since last year)
2. 1 unit slow cooker (used it once to cook porridge)
3. 1 unit toaster (used it few times already)
4. 1 unit juicer (still nicely pack in the box.... not yet use!!)
with a top up of RM30 on top of the RM530 voucher.

This kind of feeling will always be in my mind as i guess there wont be much chances for me to shop like that without worrying of how much i need to pay when i stand in front of the counter.
